Bank holidays
This page is for org admins. Bank holidays are under Organisation Settings > Bank Holidays. They’re time off everyone is given, so by default they don’t come off anyone’s allowance.
Add your countries
Section titled “Add your countries”Under Countries, choose a country and select Add. This year’s and next year’s bank holidays come in straight away, and a daily check keeps them topped up as the years turn over.
Add every country your team works in. Each team member gets the bank holidays for the country and region on their profile, and only for countries you’ve added.
Regions
Section titled “Regions”Where holidays vary by region, like the UK nations, US states or German states, a regional holiday only applies to team members in that region. The Observed by column shows who keeps each one, like “United Kingdom · Scotland”.
Hiding one that doesn’t apply
Section titled “Hiding one that doesn’t apply”You can’t edit a bank holiday’s name or date, since they’re the country’s. If your organisation works on one, open the … beside it and choose Hide. It fades, with a Hidden badge, and counts as a working day for leave booked from then on. Leave already booked isn’t recounted.
Hidden holidays stay hidden when new years are added, and Show brings one back.
Removing a country
Section titled “Removing a country”Select the cross on a country to remove all its bank holidays and stop new years being added. Leave already booked keeps its total. Adding the country again brings back all its holidays, including any you’d hidden, so hide those again.
Adding your own
Section titled “Adding your own”For a holiday your countries’ lists don’t have, like a local day off, choose Add a holiday on the Bank Holidays card, give it a Name, a Date and a Country, and choose Add holiday. Only team members in that country get it, like a country’s own holidays. The Country filter lists it under Added by you. Unlike a country’s holidays, you can remove it from its … menu, and removing a country you follow leaves it in place.
For a day the whole organisation shuts, a closure under Dates may suit better. See Organisation dates.
Earlier years
Section titled “Earlier years”Your countries’ holidays are added for this year and next. If you’re filling in past leave, choose an earlier Year and then Add
Counting bank holidays as working days
Section titled “Counting bank holidays as working days”If your organisation works through bank holidays, turn on Include bank holidays as working days under Organisation Settings > Leave & Calendar > Working Days. Then taking a bank holiday off costs a day like any other.
Everyone gets a reminder three working days before each bank holiday, which they can turn off in Notifications.
