Installing Folke on your phone

Folke works in any browser, but from your home screen there are fewer taps between you and booking a break. There’s no app store involved.

How to install

Folke offers to install itself. A banner along the bottom says Install Folke, “Book leave from your home screen.”

• Install does it there and then, or shows the steps for your browser.
• Not now hides the banner, and the install card in the sidebar, in that browser for 30 days.

You can also install it any time from:

• A phone: tap your photo in the tab bar and choose Install app.
• A computer: select Install Folke as an app at the foot of the sidebar. It appears in Chrome or Edge once they offer to install, where one click does it, and in Safari on a Mac, where it shows you the steps.

Where your browser has its own install, these use it. Everywhere else, Folke shows you the steps for the browser you’re using, so there’s nothing to look up.

Which browser to use

• iPhone and iPad: install from Safari, and Folke shows the steps for your version of it. If you’ve opened Folke in another browser, or inside another app like your email, Folke asks you to open it in Safari first.
• Android: Chrome, Edge and Samsung Internet get an Install button. In Firefox, open its menu and choose Add to Home screen. If you’ve opened Folke inside another app, Folke asks you to open it in Chrome.
• Safari on a Mac: choose Add to Dock, from Share or the File menu.
• Chrome or Edge on a computer: use Install.
• Firefox on a computer can’t install websites as apps, so use Chrome or Edge if you’d like Folke in your dock or taskbar.

Once it’s installed

• In the installed app, the install options disappear.
• The Install Folke on your phone step ticks itself off the first time you open Folke as an installed app, from your home screen or dock.
• Folke opens without a connection, but needs one to load anything new.
• On an iPhone or iPad, notifications only work once Folke is on your home screen. See Notifications.
