Half days and hours
Not every break needs a whole day. An afternoon off, or a couple of hours for an appointment, is a real break too.
A single day
Section titled “A single day”When you pick one day, choose how much of it you’re taking:
- Full day
- Morning off
- Afternoon off
- Custom time
The first three show your organisation’s hours, like “9am - 12pm”, so you can see exactly when a morning ends.
Morning off and Afternoon off always cost half a day, however your organisation splits the day.
Custom time
Section titled “Custom time”Choose Custom time (it says “Pick times”), then set From and To, in 15-minute steps. They start on your organisation’s working hours, so you only need to narrow them down.
A custom time costs the share of the working day it covers, with lunch left out, to the nearest quarter of a day. It’s never less than a quarter and never more than a full day. The form tells you as you go, for example “Counts as 0.75 of a day, to the nearest quarter of your working day.” If the times miss the working day altogether, it says “Those times are outside your working hours.”
Custom times are for a single day only. A quarter day left over at the end of the year is enough for a couple of hours off.
Several days
Section titled “Several days”For a range of days, the Half Day Options let you:
- take the Afternoon off on the first day, so your break starts at lunchtime
- take the Morning off on the last day, so you’re back after lunch
Each is its own tile, so you can choose either, both or neither. Picking new dates clears them, so set them last.
Where the hours come from
Section titled “Where the hours come from”Your organisation sets when the working day starts and finishes, and when the morning ends and the afternoon starts, under Organisation Settings > General > Working Hours. If the times look wrong for you, ask an org admin.
